Perfectly Imperfect Hourglasses

The points don't all match up, I didn't "square up" my blocks, and yet it make me happy!

Wanna hear a conversation I had in my head? "Squaring up" is what you to do your blocks after they're pieced. You take each block and trim off the little pieces hanging over the edges and make sure they're all the exact same size - which basically means cutting them all down to the smallest one. I didn't do this. Sometimes I do, this time not so much. But I did one block so I could take a nice picture to send my sister-in-law and see if she liked it or if it was too girly for her. (The quilt is for her, she liked it.) Then, when I was sewing the rows together, there was one pink block that was quite a bit smaller than the others (second row down, second from the right) and it took me a few minutes of tugging the seams to try and line them up to figure out what was going on. So, in my head:
Why is this block so small?
Oh, yeah, it's the one I squared up.
Squared? That's not a word. Wait, yes it is.
Are you sure?
It has to be. What would the past tense of "square" be if not squared? Squore? (Pronounced like "swore", but not out loud, just in my head.)

Do I even need to tell you how hard I laughed at the word squore? Oh, and this is not the first time I've wondered things like this. Past tense of "glow" - should be "glew", right? But my English teacher and I are relatively sure that it's "glowed". (Blow = blew, grow = grew, but slow = slowed and show = showed). That is my amusing story for today - perhaps I'll scrapbook it as my P365 layout! I know, you're totally asking yourself why you even read my blog today - but admit it, this IS why!!
