Wild Abandonment Blog Hop

Hi, hoppers! The best thing that I got out of this class was the idea of SKETCHING. I draw, don't get me wrong. I draw all the time. But usually it's right in my journal or on the wood I want to work on. If there's something to erase, I erase. If I decide I hate it, I erase it all. But to just open up a sketch book and let all the uglies get done at once, that was sort of a novel idea for me.

I sketched these fairy ideas for the Fairy Class at La Petit Academy, of course. I was in class and everyone else was studying for a midterm. I figure by the time we're taking the test, it's too late to study, so I amused myself with fairies while people who have only come to class once all semester tried to make up for that in fifteen minutes. SO funny.

Anyway, I enjoy this. Sometimes I sketch my day out in little rectangles, or sometimes an idea that just won't come together. Sometimes I make notes and brainstorm stuff. Anything GOES in here and it doesn't have to be "company ready". No one cares what things look like, not even me. It's just a place for all my ideas.

So, you should have come from Ashley's Art Closet and be heading to Seasonality. If you're NOT hopping but you'd like to see what the heck I'm talking about, you can go back to the beginning and start there.

29 Faces #3

It's just a flyer for school (graphic design school, remember). We had to make a flyer and it had to be a certain size and that was almost all of the instructions. SO, I'm totally counting this in my 29 faces tally. I did NOT draw it, I didn't take the picture (I got it from Google images). But I worked with it, and now it counts as a face that I worked on in May.

29 Faces #2

29 Faces for May

I'm going to do this "challenge" but (of course) in my own way. I'm a firm believe in practice making perfect. However, I already draw a lot of faces. Not all of them are beautiful. Some of them are silly and some of them are UGLY and some of them are just doodles in the margins of my math notes. They ALL count. I was going to make a new journal for this challenge and concentrate on drawing consistently good faces, but you know what? That won't happen 29 days in a row. Some days I just cant make the features line up, can't make both eyes look the same, can't get the coloring right, whatever. So brace yourselves for these faces, they're coming at you: good, bad, and/or ugly.

More InkTense Chickies

Believe it or not, I TOTALLY ruined this girl. I sprayed the page next to her with my stupid new sprays and got horrible black spray ALL OVER her. I mean, all over. It was bad and I was sad because I liked her.

So I painted over her with white paint, then gesso. Then I rescued her!! Not quite as good as the original, but I'm still happy with her. Patting myself on the back for this rescue mission. Normally I would just have painted over her and made a totally different page. But I was able to FIX something. I'm so proud of myself!

Then I made this poor, ugly girl.  First, her nose is too long. I used a ruler to line up the features, which I haven't done in months and STILL, her nose is freaky long. Also, I just could not figure out how to fix her left eye. I mean, I could see that it's wonky, but no matter how many times I erased and redrew it, I couldn't totally fix it. And besides, cross-eyed girls need love too.

And yet another...I can't seem to stop! These pencils are freaking fun to play with, you should try them!

Hello Baby!

There's some debate over whether I'm going to have a niece or a nephew!
