How did this happen?!?

I LOVED this page. Loved everything about it - the words, the colors, the clouds, the doodles, even that floating face. But I told myself it couldn't float there forever, and it needed some depth or something, so I gave it some.

And it turned into this horrible transvestite!! I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it or paint over it.

Sassy

I feel like this chickie started out SUPER sassy...

But then went to a kind of not so sassy place.

Then, I figured since I couldn't really mess her up anymore, I attacked her while I was drunk!

And I'm actually pretty pleased. Of course, I'm still drunk (it's midnight, but I'm going to set this to post around 10am - I won't still be drunk then!) so maybe I'm seeing things. I dunno, but I like her!

Another mess brought to you by Goog

I love carving stamps! These ones are for a particular phrase, so I only carved the letters I needed. Now I'm regretting that and wishing I had the whole alphabet because they came out ridiculously amazing. I freaking LOVE them. I only wish I could carve shit and sell it. It's SO MUCH FUN and having a hand carved stamp is SO much better than one that you're afraid to slap paint on because someone told you that ruins them. These aren't ruined because they have dried up black paint on them, they're freaking fantastic!

Rapidographs

Another October goal. Master these suckers. I might end up loving them, and I might not. But for my October cartoon journal, I am going to ONLY use these.

I didn't have a whole lot of ink options, these were the only two at my Michael's.

The pens are SUPER scratchy on watercolor paper, so I got Strathmore smooth Bristol and put both inks in the same size pen (.3) and tested them out. It's always frustrating for me when things don't turn out like I expect - I really thought the Speedball ink would be better. I mean, look at its pretty bottle. And it's "super black" and anything with the word super in it should be amazing. Alas, much like my beloved Fabriano paper did NOT win the Paper Research Project, the Speedball ink SUCKS on every paper. Higgins black magic is what I'm going to be using for the next month.

Here are the pens, with the good ink, on the good paper. I actually have two smaller pens, but I couldn't get them to work. Yet. I'm a very tenacious individual, so we'll see about that.

October, a month of goals

Goal #1: Income

Goal #2: File some paperwork (more on that to come)

Goal #3: Cartoon journal

Goal #4: Rapidograph mastery

Goal #5: Healing this leg:

I'm actually surprised at how "normal" it looks in this picture. This is my right calf and I don't even know if something is wrong with it or not. It started to itch, and I responded by scratching it. A year ago. I have no fingernails at all, I bite them right down to the quick, and still I've managed to scar my calf from the scratching. Oh, and not just with my nails - sometimes I use the heel of my shoe to scratch until it bleeds. Nothing over the counter helps to stop the itch for more than a couple of hours, and nothing seems to "heal" it. Of course, this is possibly because there is nothing WRONG with it other than my need to incessantly scratch it. There's no rash, not bumps, no bites, and there never were. It just started itching one day and I started scratching. This is my most important goal for the month of October - stop scratching this poor leg and let it heal. I'm putting it out there for you guys because it keeps me more accountable than a goal that's just in my head!
