A Boy and His Journal

We're doing loose sheets here, but they'll be made into journals eventually! We are using stonehenge printmaking paper and watercolors - Artist's Loft and Winsor & Newton.

He started with blue. He ALWAYS starts with blue!

Best Picture Ever

This is my son, hot tubbing in my mom's hotel room - not in the bathroom, this sucker was right in the bedroom - while he watches Lightning McQueen on a big flat panel TV. THe picture is horrible, but I nearly peed when my mom sent it to me!! Look at his happy little face while he floats and sings!

Paint Your Own

Rubber ducky! That's right, Mini Me wanted a rubber ducky from the Easter bunny. So I got him a regular one, one wearing bunny ears, and this one - that he got to paint himself! I know, I know, but he's an only child, and that should have SOME benefits, right? So I buy too many Easter things and he doesn't get a sister.

There is his ducky, all painted and ready for the tub!

Santa Claus likes chocolate milk best, did you know that? I didn't. Mini Me told me. My mommy read us The Night Before Christmas and now I'm watching South Park Christmas episodes. What could be better?

This makes me sad

My son is a beautiful child with an amazing smile. BUT when I'm taking his picture, I NEVER make him freeze and smile because the result is something like this:

I wish the photographers would just let him look natural. I LOVE how expressive his face is and would much rather see him with some kind of natural expression on his face instead of this. I'm especially partial to this one:

The New Me

"Mommy, this is the new you!"

No, that's not a necklace, it's my bellybutton :)

Duck, duck, goose? Nope, that's just my kid.

Mr. and Mrs. Duck were hanging out under a chair at the pool when we got there. They got up before I had a chance to get a good pic, but here they are. I figured we'd scared them off and they were going to leave.

Or not. Liam announces he's going to "swim over and say hello to them".

But it's actually pretty cold and by the time he gets all the way into the water, they're WAY over in the deep end.

I wish you could see this picture better. Mr. Duck is sitting on the side of the pool and Mrs. Duck is sitting IN the pool on the top step of the metal ladder. While my four-year-old spins in circles and yells "I can swim! I'm a mermaid!"

They stayed the WHOLE time we were there. It's always kind of fascinating to me when animals aren't scared of humans (or not scared enough to fly the hell away when we're invading their pool) but it always makes me a little sad, too, because the ones who aren't scared of us are the ones who get run over by cars and shot by hunters. (Then my head goes right to Duck Hunt - who remembers that game? I still have it but the gun doesn't work with LCD screens!)
