Remedy
I keep trying to convince Kelly we need to do the Illustration Friday prompts, but we mostly just talk about them and pretend like we're going to do something. She's cracking down on me, though. Last Friday's word was "remedy" and I have to admit - the first thing that came to mind was booze and pills, but when I started sketching them, I realized they're not a remedy for anything. My friends are. They always make me laugh and that's the remedy for almost anything. It's supposed to be Suzi and Kelly, but after I took the picture I realized I made Suzi's eyes blue. I'm recoloring them now!!

Austin Powers
You know that part where he's laying on the bed and he's all "Help, I'm in a nutshell!" That's what my head felt like today. Like my brain was trying to bust out of its shell. But this is funnier. It's the hemispheres of my brain, fighting with each other.
You Suck Monday - Stencils/Masks
I dunno why but we were kind of unprepared for today. This Monday snuck up on us! But we still played and had fun and here are some of my results!
Swirly tree:
The bird and birdcage were contact paper stencils cut out with Kelly's fancy die cut machines! The silhouette is just one of my own pictures - I cut it out and used the negative part for the silhouette. I don't use fancy brushes or anything, it's a Crayola cheapie brush and plain old black paint.
This one is the opposite - I taped the part I cut out down and painted around it with my fingers. The flower and leaves are contact paper stencils, too, cut with Kelly's magic machines.
Here is where I smashed the tree in my journal, the took it out and smashed the pages together.
Here are the journal pages open:
The tree is just laying there, but I wanna put it in there just like that, I love it! So much for a mask, I think I'm just going to stick it in. I love that it's imperfectly cut and that the black marker scratched off in places! This is one I've had in my head for a long time. It's a picture of Mini Me, of course, and I didn't do it right. I have to figure out the positive/negative space and how to cut it out paint and layer it all correctly...
That's the picture I used, after I altered it so I could use it. I really wanna make this work, but it's hard for my brain to figure out how to do the layers!

Adventures!
I get accused of not being adventurous all the time. I don't like nature and have zero desire to traipse around in it or sleep outside. I don't like rides at the fair (I do like the food!). I don't like to try new foods. I'm boring.
I love to draw, I love to make music, I love art. I like to DO things - walk, run, play at the park, video games, read, hang out with friends. I'm not sedentary - I love going to the gym and stuff like that. But I don't like unpredictability. Getting caught in the rain? Not fun. Thinking I'm heading in to step aerobics and finding out it's kickboxing? Not OK. Having someone else make me late, not call when they said they would, cancel an appointment or meeting...I hate those things. I'm not a "go with the flow" kind of chick. I like a plan, I like to know what's going to happen. I don't trust people and I hate surprises. Welcome to my life.
Duck Tape sheets
I know, I know, it's not "duck tape", it's "duct tape". However, this brand of duct tape is Duck Tape. Deal with it. (And everyone says duck tape. No one puts both of those t's in there, we talk too fast and have too much to say. Except maybe Mater, he talks pretty slow.) Anyway, you see what I'm holding? Behind it you can see the rolls, but in my hand is a SHEET. An awesome, patterned, super freaking cool sheet of ducT tape. It comes in all the cool colors and patterns that the tape comes in.
I'm thinking Liam's next journal is getting covered in this stuff. He won't even care, I'll just be totally amused. Hey, I wonder if those die cut things at Archiver's could cut fun shaped out of it? I'll have to try it when no one's looking.

July Collab!!
Mini was about three months old in these pictures, how cute and tiny is that?!? About two seconds after this picture, he put his little head down on his arm and started sobbing. It made me feel horrible and I had nightmares about torturing him by making him do this! (He was an ill baby, so this was a LOT for him to handle.)
I just LOVE these pictures of Mini and Daddy. How sweet are they? Daddy has always been his favorite. He loves little girls to play with, but he's a man's baby - always wants Daddy, Papa, Uncle Jay.
I've been going back through older pics and trying to digiscrap more of that stuff. If you're someone who wants to scrapbook but is overwhelmed by the idea of even starting because you have SO many pictures and where do I start and AHHHH! Just try starting with today. Start with today and don't worry about "keeping up with it" or whatever. I just took about ten million pictures of Liam's last day of baseball camp, but these are the pictures I wanted to scrap, so these are the ones I did. Don't just let all those pictures sit on your hard drive until your computer crashes, do something with them!
These LOs were done with the July collab at Ahhh Scrap. It's called "It's a Guy Thing". It's really an awesome kit, it's an amazing price, get it and give it a try.
